A Welcomed Surprise

One morning as I was drinking my coffee, I received a phone call and to my surprise it was a familiar voice. As I listened to her speak I couldn’t believe that she was actually calling me. She wanted me to write a poem that she had written in calligraphy. The manner in which she spoke to me automatically caused me to sit upright and put on my professional hat, although she had a very friendly tone. At the end of the conversation when it was time for me to write down her information and she told me who she was I was absolutely floored. My hunch was correct. The person on the other end was someone whom I admired my whole entire life by watching her on television. I couldn’t believe that she went to the internet and found my business to service her. But when she finally emailed me the body of work that was to be written I became flabbergasted and had to take a seat because the poem was about someone else that I admired. I was much honored to be penning this body of work using my calligraphy penmanship. Now the work had to begin. I was very nervous as I began to write. I was very excited and did not want to mess up. I looked at each letter with a magnifying glass and wrote very carefully. After a couple of takes I was finally ready to deliver. The walk to the office building was very nerve wrecking. I wanted to make sure that the manner in which I presented myself was appropriate. The look on her face was priceless when she received the “artwork” as if she set her eyes on a body of work that she created come to life.
That moment was very encouraging to me and was a moment that I will never forget.

We are very excited to be launching our calligraphy business in March of 2014. I have been a fan of the art of writing and I am looking forward to being a part of some of the best weddings in New Orleans (NOLA) and its surrounding areas. I believe that our calligraphy will add to the mystic of any special day.
